A note from the founder
APO is a passion project that sprouted from what is now 7 years of experience in providing private educational and consulting services, 4 years of teaching Latin at a top-ranking Title I magnet school in Houston ISD, and serving as a Faculty Tutor and Adjunct Faculty member at Houston Community College.
I have worked with so many different types of students and families from all over the city of Houston, but— no matter who I’m working with or what socioeconomic and environmental factors are at play— one thing remains constant.
Our students need better, earlier, consistent, and personalized college guidance.
Call me crazy, but I think if we can stop waiting until sophomore or junior year to address test prep, we can get our kids ahead of the curve and make them feel confident and prepared to apply and get into their first-choice, best-fit university.
Let’s start prepping for the SAT or ACT while we are learning the content, not two or three years afterwards.
My goal with APO is to integrate college preparation and guidance with a student’s regular high school curriculum. Sprinkle tid-bits of advice, mentorship, and career guidance while they are figuring out who they are, who they want to be, and how they get there.
